    Biography Marley Napoleon Doby was born on July 12, 1925, in Eldora Township, Surry County, North Carolina to William "Billie" Thomas Doby and Maude Lee (Fulk) Doby. On the 1930 and 1940 Census, he lived with his parents and siblings in Dobson Township, Surry County. He registered for the World War II draft in 1943 in Gibsonville, Guilford County, North Carolina. He was working at Rock Creek Dairy in Julian, Guilford County, NC at the time. He was wed to Hazel Marie “Toby” Shaw on July 21, 1945, in Guilford County, NC. He was 20 years old and she was 17. Hazel was born on September 22, 1928, in Guilford County, NC, to George Grier Shaw and Pauline (Greeson) Shaw. On the 1950 Census, Marley and Toby were living in Greene Township, Guilford County. He and Hazel were divorced on February 12, 1974, in Alamance County, NC. Sometime between 1974 and 1986, he married Orene Elizabeth Flack. Orene was born on March 24, 1933, in Washington, Beaufort County, NC, to Ernest Lee Flack and Mary Elizabeth (Puckett) Flack. Orene passed away in 1992 and Marley married again to Linda LNU. Marley passed away on May 26, 2013, in Alamance County, NC and was buried at Alamance Memorial Park in Burlington, Alamance County. Toby passed away on December 22, 2014, in Columbia, Richland County, South Carolina.

    Mr. Marley Napolian Doby, 87, passed away Sunday, May 26, 2013, at the Hospice Home of Alamance-Caswell. Marley loved spending time on his tractor with his landscaping business. He was a member of Open Bible Baptist Church and enjoyed spending time at White Lake. He loved his wife, children, grandchildren and the time he spent with them. Marley was also known for the stories he told. He is survived by his wife, Linda Doby; sons, Lynn Stutts (Tammy), Frank Doby and Tony Doby (Debbie); daughters, Paula Faler (Warren), Vicki Christopher (fiancé Rick Felts) and Linda Shepard; a brother, Cletus Doby; a sister, Beulah Andrews; 13 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Marley was preceded in death his parents, William Doby and Maude Faulk Doby; brothers, Clarence, Claude, Wayne, Floyd and Troy; sisters, Eva Edwards and Belva Doby; and two grandchildren, Jeff Johnson and Heather Cid-Christopher. A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, May 29, 2013, at Alamance Memorial Park. McClure Funeral Service in Graham is assisting the family.
