    Mrs. Nancy Holyfield Doby, 71, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Macie Sentelle, Route 2, Sunday morning at 8:30. She had been ill for some time. A native of Surry County, Mrs. Doby was the daughter of the late W. D. and Mrs. Luzina Simpson Holyfield. Survivors include the husband, R. L. Doby, three daughters, Mrs. Macy Sentelle, Route 2, Mrs. Lela Edwards, Burlington and Mrs. Nancy Warner, Jittersville, Va.; four sons, William P. Doby, Route 2, James E. Doby, Danville, Va., Carl Doby, Sanford, and Charlie Doby of Texas; a sister, Minerva Key, Sanford; two brothers J. H. Holyfield, Charlotte, and John Holyfield, Aberdeen. Twenty-four grandchildren also survive. (Published in the Raliegh News and Observer, 11 Apr 1951, p. 21)

    Funeral Services for Mrs. Mealie [sic] Frances Doby, 67, of Rt. 2, Mebane, will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Liberty Primitive Baptist Church in Surry County. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Mrs. Doby died Sunday afternoon in a Burlington hospital after one week of critical illness. Surviving are her husband, W.P. Doby; two daughters, Mrs. Lexie Hatch of Rt. 2, Mebane, and Mrs. Cassie Holden of Vass; six sons, Marvin, Everete, Danny, Elmore, and Paul Doby, all of Rt. 2, Mebane, and Melvin Doby of Rt. 1, Efland; one brother, Elmer Stanley of Bear Creek; and 23 grandchildren. Pallbearers will be John Sentell, Buck Jones, Ballard Westbrook, Jack Holder, Bobby Holder, and Junior Holder. (The Herald-Sun of Durham, NC. 12 Dec 1961. Page 2.)
