    Biography Daniel Doby was born around 1820 to Alsey Doby and Mary "Polly" (Sneed) Doby. His birth location is not known. His parents moved from Wake County, NC to Rowan or Davidson County, NC sometime between 1819 and 1830. Davidson was created from Rowan in 1822. So, his birth location depends on the exact year he was born.

    He was married to Charlotte Sarah Taylor in 1842 in Davidson County. They had five known children.

    On the 1850 and 1860 Census, they were living in Davidson County. He was a farmer. He enlisted in the North Carolina Infantry on 8 May 1862 and served in the Civil War. He was discharged on 14 Apr 1864 as a result of a wound.

    By the 1870 Census, Daniel and the family had relocated to Albemarle, Stanly County, NC. He was a farmer. In 1874 they sold their land in Stanly County and moved back to Davidson sometime before the 1880 Census. On the 1880 Census, he was a miller.

    There is no record of his death or burial.
