  Obituary	Freeda Mae Collins Doby, a devoted wife of 66 years and loving mother, peacefully passed away on June 8, 2023, at an age of 94. She was born on May 22, 1929, in Surry County as the daughter of Johnnie Collins and Daisy Hemmings Collins. Freeda was a homemaker who dedicated her life to her family and community. She was dearly loved by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. As a member of New Home Church of Christ throughout her life, she exemplified kindness, compassion, and generosity towards those around her. A visitation in memory of Freeda will be held on June 11, 2023, from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm at New Home Church of Christ in Dobson. It will be followed by the funeral service starting at 4:00 pm, with Brother Tim Smith officiating. Her final resting place will be beside her beloved husband Jack Doby who preceded her. Freeda is survived by her son, Gary Doby; daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and James Draughn, along with several nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind cherished friends from over the years. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Doby was preceded in death by her sisters and brothers-in-law, Winnie Lou Collins and Jack Marion and Ruby Collins and Charles Perkins. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to New Home Church of Christ or to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care,1427 Edgewood Drive, Suite 101, Mount Airy NC 27030. Moody-Davis Funeral Service in Dobson is serving the Doby family.
