    Biography Macie Etta Doby was born on September 13, 1909, in Surry County, NC, to Robert Lee Doby and Nancy Regina (Holyfield) Doby. On the 1910 and 1920 Census, she was living with her parents in Rockford Township, Surry County. Sometime before the 1930 Census, the family relocated to Tunstall, Pittsylvania, VA. Her occupation on the 1930 Census was “pinner.” She married John Elliot Sentelle Jr. on December 22, 1933, in Alamance County, NC. John was born on July 23, 1910, in Haywood County, NC, to John Elliot Sentelle Sr. and Nancy Louise (Haynes) Sentelle. Mecie and John lived in the Cheeks Township of Orange County, NC. John passed away on May 28, 1994, in Mebane, Orange County, NC. Mecie passed away on October 24, 2003, in Orange County. Both were buried at Oakwood Cemetery in Mebane, NC.
