    Biography Mary Creola Doby was born on June 27, 1915, in Rockford, Surry County, North Carolina, to Richard "Dick" Green Doby and Pearl Jane (Griffin) Doby. On the 1920 and 1930 Census, she lived with her parents in Dobson Township, Surry County. She was married to James McCoy Cole on November 25, 1933, in West Sanford Township, Lee County, NC. James was born on October 2, 1911, in Lee County, NC, to Coy McNeil Cole and Minnie Lee (Fore) Cole. On the 1940 Census, they lived in Jonesboro Township, Lee County, and on the 1950 Census, they lived in Greenwood Township, Lee County. James passed away on February 16, 1952, in Cameron, Moore County, NC, and was buried in Center United Methodist Church Cemetery in Sanford, Lee County. Around 1958 she married a Mr. Sutton, then around 1960 she married a Mr. Watkins. She passed away on December 10, 1990 at Central Carolina Hospital in Sanford, Lee County, and was buried at Center United Methodist Church Cemetery.

    Mrs. Creola C. Watkins, 75, of Route 2 died Monday. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. today in the cemetery of Center United Methodist Church, of which she was a member. Surviving are daughters, Miss Mary Cole of Carthage, Mrs. Minnie Fraley of Sanford, Mrs. Rebecca Oxendine of Greensboro; sons, Richard Cole of Carthage, Billy Cole, Morris Cole, both of Sanford, Fla.; brothers, James Doby of Kernersville, George Doby of Sanford; 13 grandchildren. Fry-Prickett Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
