    Biography John Edgar Doby was born on May 10, 1902, in Surry County, NC, to Robert Lee Doby and Nancy Regina (Holyfield) Doby. On the 1910 and 1920 Census report, he was living with his parents in Rockford Township, Surry County. He was married to Della Savannah Coe on December 8, 1921, in Surry County. Della was born on July 30, 1902, in Dobson, Surry County, NC, to Richard Boss Coe and Amelda Ellen (Wood) Coe. By the time the 1930 Census was taken, they had relocated to Tunstall, Pittsylvania County, VA, where they remained until their death. John passed away on July 19, 1947, in Danville, VA, and was buried at the Salem Baptist Church Cemetery in Dobson, NC. Della passed away on July 23, 1972, in Danville and was buried at the Danville Memorial Gardens.
