    Biography Carl Lee Doby was born on December 29, 1900, in Surry County, NC, to Robert Lee Doby and Nancy Regina (Holyfield) Doby. He lived with his parents in Rockford, Surry County, NC until he was married on December 8, 1921, to Emma Holder, in Rockford. Emma was born on December 8, 1903 to John Holder and Luzena Elizabeth (Wood) Holder. On the 1930 Census report, they were living in Tunstall, Pittsylvania County, VA, and on the 1940 and 1950 Census reports, they were living in Greenwood Township, Moore County, NC. Emma passed away on March 12, 1981, in Moore County, NC. Carl passed away on October 13, 1986, in Cameron, Moore County, NC. Both were buried at the Pineywood Baptist Church Cemetery in Cameron.
