    Biography Loise Marie Doby was born on August 24, 1928, in Danville, Pittsylvania County, Virginia, to Walter Henry Doby and Ollie Francis (Parker) Doby. On the 1930 Census, she lived with her parents and siblings in Tunstall, Pittsylvania County, VA. On the 1940 Census, she lived with her parents and siblings in Clarksville Township, Davie County, North Carolina. She was married to Robert Eugene Rothrock on September 10, 1948, in Guilford County, NC. Robert was born on January 10, 1929, in Mecklenburg County, NC, to George Rothrock and Izola Pearle Messer. On the 1950 Census, Louise was listed as separated and living with her parents and siblings in Calahaln Township, Davie County, NC. Sometime after the 1950 Census, she was married to Lincoln Otis Emery Jr. Lincoln was born on January 4, 1930, in Tennessee, to Lincoln Otis Emery Sr. and Rosa Katherine (Parsons) Emery. Martha and Lincoln were divorced on June 5, 1978, in Iredell County, NC. She remarried in 1983 to James Santford Elmore (1922-2009). James was born on April 11, 1922, in Iredell County, NC, to James William Elmore and Grace (Denny) Elmore. Robert passed away on July 27, 1984, in Oteen, Buncombe County, NC, and was buried in Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery in Ellenboro, Rutherford County, NC. James passed away on April 24, 2009, in Winston-Salem, Forsyth County, NC, and was buried in Iredell Memorial Gardens in Statesville, Iredell County, NC. Lincoln passed away on July 30, 2010, in Elkin, NC. Lois passed away on June 27, 2014, in Statesville, and was buried at Iredell Memorial Gardens in Statesville.

    Obituary Lois Marie Doby Elmore, 85, of Statesville, passed away Friday, June 27, 2014, at Iredell Memorial Hospital following a period of declining health. Mrs. Elmore was born in Danville, VA on August 25, 1928, and was the daughter of the late Walter Henry and Ollie Parker Doby. She attended White Plains High School in Surry County, NC and she was married first to Lincoln Otis Emery, Jr, and then to James Santford Elmore, both of which preceded her in death. Mrs. Elmore was a member of Diamond Hill Baptist Church and she worked as a sales clerk with Taylor Furniture. She was a devoted Christian, a great cook, and she was very dedicated to her family. In addition to her parents and her husbands, Mrs. Elmore was also preceded in death by three brothers, Dan, Perry "Bo", and Garnett Doby along with three sisters, Chris Cobb, Dot Crowson, and Carolyn Taylor. She is survived by one son, Robert Frank Emery and one daughter, Sandra E. Saunders, both of Statesville; two grandsons, Justin Somers (Lindsey) and Jamie Somers (Rochelle) along with two great-granddaughters, Julia Grace Somers and Kerry Marie Somers, all of Yadkinville, NC. She is also survived by one sister, Shirley Chapman of Statesville and one brother, James Donald Doby of Winston-Salem, NC. Funeral services for Mrs. Elmore will be conducted at 3:00 PM Tuesday, July 1, 2014, in the Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Larry Holleman officiating. Burial will follow in the Iredell Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 2:00 until 3:00 PM at Nicholson Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Diamond Hill Baptist Church, 2320 E. Broad Street, Statesville, NC 28625.
