    Biography Thomas William “Wiley” Doby was born around 1824, probably in Davidson County, North Carolina to Alsey Doby and Mary (Snead) Doby. Edith “Edy” Winkler was born around 1825, probably in Rowan or Davidson County, NC. There are no records of her parents. Thomas and Edy were married on November 14, 1847, in Davidson County, NC. Between 1856 and 1860 they moved to Grayson County, Virginia. Thomas died in 1867 in Grayson County, VA. There is no record of his burial location. Edy moved to Surry County, NC between the 1870 and 1880 Census and passed away sometime after that. There is no record of her burial.
