    Biography Claude William Doby was born on October 28, 1914, in Surry County, North Carolina, to William "Billie" Thomas Doby and Maude Lee (Fulk) Doby. On the 1920 – 1940 Census, he lived with his parents and siblings in Dobson Township, Surry County. He registered for the World War II draft on October 16, 1940. His residence was Whitsett, Guilford County, NC. He was employed by the Gibsonville Development Company and worked at Rock Creek Dairy. He was 5'2" tall, had blue eyes, brown hair, and a "ruddy" complexion. Around 1951, he married Myrtle Odell Lemons. Myrtle was born on June 29, 1921, in Franklin County, Virginia, to Charles William Lemons and Eula Mae (Nolen) Lemons. Claude passed away on November 21, 2000, in Burlington, Alamance County, North Carolina, and was buried in Alamance Memorial Park in Burlington. Myrtle passed away on July 18, 2008 in Burlington.

    Claude William Doby, 86, died Tuesday Nov 21, 2000. A graveside service will be held at 2 pm Friday Nov 24 2000 in Alamance Memorial Park. He owned and operated Doby Landscaping. Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Myrtle Lemons Doby of the home; daughter, Ms. Deborah Wilson of Burlington; son, Dan Doby; sister, Ms. Beulah Andrews of Greensboro; brothers, Cletus Doby of Greensboro and Marley Doby of Graham; and three grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 12 to 1:45 pm Friday at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory. Now go, father and plow the sky and we will miss you. Your family.
