    Obituary Thelma Doby Freeman, 77, of Carthage, died Friday (12/5/03) at HCR Manor Care in Pinehurst. A native of Richmond, Va., she was a daughter of the late Carl and Emma Holder Doby. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Rowland Freeman. Private burial will be held in Cross Hill Cemetery. Surviving are daughters, Betty Wilson and Shirley Hinton, both of Carthage; a son, Norman Barber Jr. of Carthage; sisters, Vera Pope of Carthage and Mable Horne of Cameron; a brother, Raymond Doby of Cameron; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Memorial gifts may be made to FirstHealth Hospice Foundation, 150 Applecross Road, Pinehurst, N.C. 28374. Arrangements are by Fry and Prickett Funeral Home.
