  Biography	Belva Irene Doby was born on May 15, 1923, in Surry County, North Carolina, to William "Billie" Thomas Doby and Maude Lee (Fulk) Doby. The family was living in Dobson Township at the time, and it's likely that she was born at home. Sometime between 1930 and 1935, the family moved to Whitsett, Guilford County, NC. She attended the Whitsett School (currently Whitsett Town Hall) on Highway 61 in Whitsett, Guilford County, NC and completed the 4th grade. On June 13, 1937, Belva was baptized in Reidsville, Rockingham County, NC, by Rev. Allen Nance. On 28 Jul 1949, she passed away in Guilford County, NC. She was 26 years old and had never married. Her obituary states that she died enroute to a hospital. Her death certificate states that she died in the Rock Creek Township of Guilford County, NC, which is where the family lived at the time. Some family members state that she passed away at her eldest sister, Eva’s, house. Some of her nieces and nephews tell stories that they heard from their parents about how protective her brothers were of her and how much they loved her. Her youngest brother, Floyd, carried her picture in his wallet until his death in 1989.

  Obituary	Miss Belva Irene Doby 26 of Route 1 Gibsonville died this afternoon en route to a hospital. A native of Surry County, she had been ill for several years. She was a member of Burlington Christian Church. Surviving are her mother, Mrs. Maude Doby; two sisters, Mrs. Edwards and Mrs. Andrews; and seven brothers, Troy, Clarence, Claude, Wayne, Marley, Cletus, and Floyd Doby. Funeral arrangements are incomplete.
